Agriculture & Women's Economic Empowerment

Creating pathways for women and girls to build secure livelihoods, improve household nutrition and build resilient communities through organic agriculture and gardens.

Thematic Area

Agriculture & Women's Economic Empowerment

The Challenge

NAWAD promotes women’s entrepreneurship, knowledge, and skills to improve livelihoods through research, training, community women scholars, community-based enterprises, policy advocacy, planning, and monitoring. Our work responds to the economic inequalities that continue to limit women’s access to decent employment, income-generating opportunities, productive resources, and leadership in decision-making, while recognizing the disproportionate burden of unpaid care work that many women carry every day.

The Solution

NAWAD believes that agriculture is a powerful pathway to women’s economic empowerment. By helping women build sustainable livelihoods through climate-smart agriculture, nutrition, and entrepreneurship, we strengthen families and communities. This vision comes to life through two integrated flagship programs that empower women and young mothers to grow healthier, more resilient, and economically secure futures.

OUR APPROACH

Growing Opportunity. Nourishing Families. Empowering Women.
